Activities
Mountainous sand dunes, wild windswept beaches, glorious bays, rugged limestone cliffs and inland
lakes provide the perfect backdrop for some of the most memorable holiday experiences.
A labyrinth of caves, sinkholes, volcanic craters, national and conservation parks leaves outdoor
enthusiasts spoilt for choice. Bushwalkers have endless opportunities, while those keen to explore the
more remote areas can do so in a four-wheel drive.
If you're looking to get out onto the water, the coastal and inland waterways provide superb aquatic opportunities ranging from sailing and surfing to water-skiing. Head off the coast for some spectacular boating or book a fishing charter for your chance to land that prized catch. If you prefer a kayak or canoe, paddle along the serene and meandering Glenelg river or through the diverse lagoons of the area. The adventure continues underground. Climb, crawl and squeeze your way through some of Australia's most spectacular cave systems. If that isn't enough, dive beneath the surface and discover
the diverse marine life, submerged wrecks and underwater caverns that riddle the Limestone Coast.
For something completely different, take to the skies in a tiger moth for a thrill ride and birds eye view of the stunning scenery below, or saddle up and explore the region on horseback. If you are looking for something a little more challenging, climb Mount Schank, an extinct volcano, and descend into the heart of the crater.
Not all outdoor activities are designed to raise a sweat. Embark on one of the many fascinating town walking trails. Or pack the clubs and play a round of golf at one of the 17 magnificent golf courses that dot the Limestone Coast. If you're seeking excitement, you'll find it here, but if you prefer to take life at a gentler pace, don't worry - there are plenty of activities to suit your definition of adventure. Simply pack the car, a sense of adventure, and head to the Limestone Coast.
